March Playlist.

This is most definitely the weirdest month, music wise. There is a real mix of music from the 90s and early 2000s to more recent music influenced by concerts i've seen this month. All of this has culminated into the March Playlist. I thought i'd try something a bit different and include my March Spotify Playlist (I love Spotify!!! It makes traffic a lot more bearable knowing that I can rock out to Avril Lavigne!)

Royal Exhibition Building.

I have mixed feelings about the Royal Exhibiton Building in Melbourne. On one hand it's a beautiful building but on the other hand, it's the building I have my exams in so I can't help but feel a bit anxious every time I step through those big doors. Not going to lie, the only time I've been to the REB for non exam purposes was for the Slavic Pancake Festival. It genuinely felt weird being in there without stressing out about the relationship between dopamine and schizophrenia. Being there without worrying about hand cramps and lost pens allowed me to focus on the beautiful architecture of the building. Here are a few photos I took from last month when I was there for the festival.

White Night.

Yes, White Night was a few weeks ago but between summer subject assignments, o-week, first week back at Uni and tripping on my foot and spraining it, this is the first time i've had time to consolidate my pictures!
White night was AWESOME! My brother's improv tap dance group Jamz( I've done a post on them here) were performing so it gave me an excuse to brave the crowds and venture into the city on a night where there is no logical reason for 500,000 people to be at one place over the span of twelve hours. Okay, ramble over, here are the pictures!
I didn't see much but it was definitely a fun experience(minus the crowds). I'd definitely go again, but make a plan of the events I want to see!

February Playlist

Ahh, apologies for being absent for so long. Getting back into the swing of things, here's another playlist for the month of February.

The entire Sam Smith Album, although Lay me down is probably my favourite song.
Benny and the Jets: Elton John
Piece of my Heart: Cee Lo Green

Also special mention to a band I saw at White Night in Melbourne last weekend- The Black Harrys!

Young Vincent.

Last Friday, I headed down to Mornington with my friends for the Young Vincent single launch. Young Vincent is an amazing band and the lead singer has a BEAUTIFUL voice. They played a couple of their songs and ended the night with a hilarious cover of 'Say my name'.
The launch was held at Commonfolk Cafe, which is situated on a street filled with car repair shops, and from the outside you're a little skeptical. Once you get in, it's just so cute, filled with fairy lights, cute water cups and beautiful cakes. Can't wait to go there one day when it's not all dolled up for a performance.
Go like Young Vincent on Facebook, check out their Youtube channel, go support a great band with amazing talent.

Beach-hopping.

Bored on a warm Thursday afternoon? Go beach-hopping!
The other day, I visited my friend who was having a beach week in Rosebud. The plan was to meet the rest of her family at a few beaches, but we ended up on a wild goose chase trying to find them, only to find out when we got back to her place that they had gone to the shops instead! On the bright side, we had fun driving along the coast and checking out a few beaches.
Have you had any misadventures that have turned out really fun?

Last Weekend.

Last weekend was a long weekend because Monday was Australia Day. The week before, I was doing a summer intensive course at University, so I was really looking to relax during the weekend before I had to start working on my assignments for the class. Last weekend was actually really nice. I spent Saturday at Mornington- my obsession with that beautiful town is growing, I fall more in love with it every time I visit. Sunday was spent wandering the Melbourne CBD and then watching Wild. It was such a nice movie, definitely recommend it if you are feeling uninspired! Have any of you read the book, hoping to read it in Febuary. Instead of spending Australia Day listening to the Triple J Top 100 at a barbecue, my friends and I went for a Survival Day celebration in Belgrave. Here's a link if you want to know more about Survival Day.There was music, good food and lots of henna. Here are a few pictures from last weekend.

Best of the Bakes.

Baking can be pretty hit or miss. Sometimes it works on the first try, other times you need to do it a few times until you get the hang of it. A couple of the times, the recipe isn't just right and you end up having to throw out a whole cake( I have done this on numerous occasions).
Over the past year, I have accumulated a number of recipes I know I can make and will turn out alright(and by alright, I mean the only thing getting thrown out is the baking paper used to line the tray). Here is a compilation of a few baking recipes I find myself turning to when I need to make dessert(or something to have with my afternoon cup of tea).

Nigella's Red Velvet Cake:  Although the original recipe is for cupcakes, it works just as fine as a cake. My only recommendation is that you don't leave the cake in the fridge before you serve it( it makes it dry and unpleasant). Also DO NOT put your icing in the fridge before putting it on the cake- on one occasion I spent 20 minutes trying to soften my icing to put on the cake. I tend to whiz up the icing an hour before I have to serve and just put it on the cake.

Anna's Lemon Drizzle Cake: I LOVE this cake. It's simple and light and perfect with a cup of tea!

Tanya's Cookies: I never knew I could make such good cookies at home-so good, super chocolatey and hands down amazing. Just make sure you cook them for 10-12 minutes and give them half an hour to cool down-it's what makes them so chewy.

Best Friend Cake: I have a whole post dedicated to it here.

Nigella's Banana Bread: For when you have too many over ripe bananas. I'm not a fan of raisins so I usually don't include them.

Masterchef Brownies: An easy peasy, foolproof brownie recipe!

What do you love to bake? Any recipe recommendations?

Summer Bucket List.

Yes, I know that it's already been a good month or two since summer began, but with the recent 40 degree weather and numerous beach days, summer has officially begun now in my head. Every year I try to enjoy the summer as much as possible as I hate the cold weather and this year is no different. Summer also means that I have roughly 4 months of free time to do as a please, and this year i'm making a real effort not to spend it in bed watching Gilmore Girls or Gossip Girl.
Here is a list of things i'd like to do( yes, actually get out of bed and DO) this summer(well, what's left of it):

*Go to the beach more often
*See more of Mornington
*Buy bathers (I really need a new pair, any suggestions would be welcome!)
*Perfect my ice tea recipe (my current one is awful)
*Save more money
*Learn how to play the F chord on the guitar (the F chord is my achilles heel when it comes to my guitar playing abilities)
*Exercise more(more like start exercising)
*Do more art/DIYs
*Buy less junk
*Learn Photoshop
*Read more

There you have it, my list of things i'd like to do during the next few months. What are your favourite summer activities?

Summer uniform.

        Shirt// Uniqlo
Shorts//American Eagle Outfitters
White Converse//Urban Outfitters
Sunglasses//ASOS Men

I found my summer uniform-that outfit i'll most definitely wear a few too many times over the next few months. It's a definite win for Uniqlo with their range of linen shirts! The linen shirt prevents me from getting sunburnt but is light enough to ensure I don't over heat. It also makes me look more 'university student who has her s*it together' rather than my usual 'I just rolled out of bed' look. At night, I just team the shirt with some jeans and black flats.
What's your go to outfit for summer? Any recommendations?

Happy New Year.

Happy New Year! I hope you all had a wonderful night celebrating the end of 2014 and the start of 2015. I spent mine at a friends place and then we headed to Carlton Gardens to see the fireworks(note to self: Carlton Gardens is a great place to see the fireworks from-no crowds but no compromising on the view).
I hope that you are excited for the new year and ready to face the challenges life throws at you!
